Here is the second card in my Father's Day/Mens birthday card series.

This one also uses the 'And Many Mower' set.

Its can be hard coming up with a card for men, but this set really makes it easy! it is incredibly versatile! It can be used for Birthdays, Father's Day, retirement..... all in one set! I highly recommend this set to anyone who has ever needed to make a card for a guy!

Hold on for the ride, folks! We are gonna explore our masculine side!
I have had an ongoing dilemma of not being able to find or come up with a whole lot of masculine ideas for cards. But recently, I had a request from a card customer for 2 Fathers day and a birthday card for her husband. Her request just so happened to coincide with the arrival of my new 'And Many Mower' stamp set!! I made a bunch of different cards, so that she would have several to choose from.

This is the first of many I will be posting in the next couple weeks. Hopefully it will help inspire someone who might be struggling trying to find masculine cards, like I had so many times in the past!

I love simple!

I got the inspiration for todays card from a baby gift bag made by Kristina Werner a while back. I don't have a link to the actual picture, but here is a link to her blog. She is an absolutely amazing artist and a superstar in the papercrafting world.

I used the Always, Hugs and Wishes, and Polka Dot sets for this card.
The colors are Pretty in Pink and Chocolate Chip.

A scrappy card!

I colored the image on this one with a blender pen first and then kind of built the card around it.
For the cardbase, I used a piece of cardstock I've had in my scrapbooking stash a while, then a piece of DSP, Old Olive cardstock, and a piece of brown all from my scrap pile.
The image isn't crooked, it is actually on dimensionals and the one in the bottom right got a little smooshed. LOL! I am really kind of particular about trying to get things straight on my cards and when I don't it really sticks out to me! So I thought I would add that little disclaimer! Now you know another one of my quirks! :)

To Blue Bayou! Ok, I know, I'm kind of showing my age here! LOL! What can I say, my dad constantly listened to music and I picked up on it as a youngster :)

I had been trying to use some of my retired stuff lately, and in that endeavor, I put this card together. I absolutely LOVED the Afternoon Tea DSP (sorry, now retired!) I wish we could vote on what papers should stay on a little longer!

For this one, I used Not Quite Navy to stamp the images, then colored in with Baja Breeze.

Pretty Sky

This is my last Mother's Day card this year, made with Soft Sky and Afternoon Tea DSP. You know, I cannot tell you enough about how wonderful Stampin' Up patterned papers are! They truly are fabulous! I love the weight, the colors, the patterns, the versatility, and best of all, they perfectly match Stampin' Up cardstock! It really makes things so much easier and makes your cards look great!

I am totally going to take advantage of this month's DSP special of buy 3 get one FREE! It's stock up time! yay! There really are some GORGEOUS papers in the current catalog too!

For this card, I used Afternoon Tea (ret.), and the All Holidays and Live Your Dream(ret.) stamp sets. I added some bling to the flowers to give it a little sparkle. This card was actually pretty easy to do, too!

Okay! Last Groovy Guava card! I have used several different stamp sets for this one:

I like the flowers from the Dream A Little set, because you have a solid image, an outline, and they are easy to cut out. You can do so much with just that flower! and the leaf branch from Great Friend is so delicate and pretty! I just had to put them together!


All right, tomorrow I will post a Soft Sky card, and that will conclude my Mothers Day series!!

Only a couple more!

I know, Mothers day is past, but heck, EVERY day can be Mothers day!

Here is another in the collection I made for my mothers co-workers. This one uses Groovy Guava DSP, a polka dot ribbon, and a cardbase that I got on clearance from my local scrapbook store. It is a very subtle, almost porcelain pink color, and it happens to go perfectly with the Groovy Guava. You never know what you will find out there!
I used the Big Shot Top Note die for the panel, and stamped it with the Live your Dream flowers in Groovy Guava, and the words from Wonderful Favorites. I added pearls and a bow and I was done!

More Guava, please!

This card uses a lot of things that are retired, but I thought that the layout is always something that could maybe inspire someone!

Again, the colors are easily switched to customize your card. For this one, I used Groovy Guava and Chocolate Chip.


I really like the way this one turned out.

Seeing a pattern?

Yes, there is a pattern here....I figured I would post the cards i have made recently for Mothers Day. Several of them were made with Groovy Guava. But you can change easily the colors to suit your needs.

This was a very easy card, with a piece of DSP on the bottom half, a polka dot ribbon across the seam, the branch stamp from Embrace Life, the sentiment from All Holidays, and the main image from Embrace Life, colored with a blender pen and finished off with a pearl in the center. I used the Ticket Corner punch for the main image and mat pieces before adhering them together. Easy!

Trying to keep up

I've recently realized something about myself...I have a tendency to be a little behind the times. In other words I will fall in love with something after it's had its day in the sun.

Take last years In Colors for instance..... In the last few weeks I have been using Groovy Guava and Blue Bayou like crazy! I've been working on Mothers Day cards for some of my moms co-workers (and one for my mom!) and have really been favoring Groovy Guava. I wish that the In Colors could stay around all the time instead of retiring! Or at least special order or something! Oh well, such is life!

But back to the card, I have used Groovy Guava, which you can use too if you stockpiled it last year like I did, or you can substitute any color you like. I just used polka dots on the bottom, and stripes on the top, placed a strip of Very Vanilla across the seam, (you can use ribbon) and put the main image and panel over the strip. I stamped the images with Embrace Life in Basic Gray, and All Holidays in Basic Black. I used a blender pen and Groovy Guava ink for the flower and added a little pearl in the center.

Gosh, May already?? Yep, sure is! and it just so happens to be National Scrapbooking month too! Woohoo! Back to my roots!
I began scrapbooking back in 1994, starting with my wedding scrapbook. A big life event is usually what starts people off, but really, you can begin with anything! This 8x8 page I made last week is a picture of my little girl during a walk in the park.
I used Brilliant Blue and Lovely Lilac, Garden Whimsy and Stitched Exotics stamp sets, Lovely Lilac and Almost Amethyst inks, a black Stamp n' Write marker, Billboard Big Shot Die, and Gable Green cardstock for the letters.
