Making a Cake (Card)

The theme at Stampin' Royalty this week is BIRTHDAYS!!
Right up my alley! (that and Christmas, of course!)
I was DYING to use my new Stacked With Love Designer paper from the brand spankin' new Occasions Catalog!
So i did!
I used my Real Red, Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe, and Basic Black markers to color the stamp from the Amazing Birthday set, matted it with Gold Glimmer paper, and then, i made the cute little cake. Let me tell you how i did it!
I first used a square of the designer paper, then punched out a strip of Crisp Cantaloupe with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch, then cut it in half and put on along the top, and one along the bottom. I also added a super thin strip of the cold glimmer across the center. For the candles, i had a couple small scrap strips that i glued to some red cardstock, and for the flames, i used my Bird Builder Punch (just the top leaf of the branch) and punched some Gold Glimmer paper, and glued that to the top of the scrap strips on the Real Red cardstock (i hope this makes sense.)

So after gluing all the pieces on Real Red cardstock scraps, i cut along the outline, leaving a small border around the pieces.  I then glued the candles on the back of the cake part and put the whole thing on the card with Dimensionals. for some added sparkle, i glued some gold sequins to fill in the empty spots and i was all done :)

  3. Thanks, Ladies!! and yes, MsSelena1973, i agree....when you look at the papers, the first color that pops out is usually red, but i wanted to incorporate all the colors but not have it be a "red" card.... its such fun paper, and i always like to see how i can think of things 'out of the box'!
