Just for fun
Well, just for fun I decided to try a challenge on Dawn McVey's amazing site! Here is my result! I don't even know if it counts, cause I am missing 2 of the colors! But the rest are there! Ok, two posts in one day! Woohoo! on a roll!
Is it wednesday already?
I just noticed the bow in my picture is crooked! LOL! oops! Well, it gives it 'character', right?
Well, I used the Delightful Decorations set and the ornament punch for this card.
Ok, I know, I am full of excuses, but I didn't get to all the things I wanted to do again this week. My husband was home sick for a couple days, and well, fellow wives, I am sure you can relate. The common cold also has the effect of reverting them back to childhood somehow...
I did however get one of my projects done, now I just need pictures of it!
On another note, I do have to say I am sad because we have tried just about everything, and my brand new My Digital Studio is still not working on my husbands computer. There is something (we can't figure out what) that is competing with the program, and the program just disappears off the screen after less than 5 minutes of use. I was hoping to start using it for a lot of different things in the next few weeks, but it looks like I am out of luck. Who knows, maybe I can convince my husband to get me an early Christmas present of a new computer (which I have been needing anyway!) and I will be able to use it on there! We'll see.........

Not Quite as Simple Monday
Well, my Monday didn't start out so simple, and to top it off, I didn't have a simple card for this week! But this card really isn't that complicated. Even the bow was not difficult (once you know how to do it!)
This card wouldn't fall in the quick category, but it can be done in a fairly reasonable amount of time.
Basically this card is a cardbase, a patterned paper, a Top Note panel, a ribbon and a button. I used the Butterfly Punch to punch out the large butterfly, and cut out the small one to give the card dimension.
The ribbon is made like this:
A strip of ribbon across the panel.
A length of ribbon with the ends glued together to make an oval, and the center is pinched together and glued to make the bow part.
a small piece of ribbon is glued around the pinched part to make it look finished.
stick on a button.
Give it a try!

A Merry Poinsettia
I kind of designed this card around the background paper. It is a paper from a couple Christmases ago. The poinsettia stamp is one I have had FOREVER and don't even remember where I got it.
I really like the colors on this card. The sentiment is embossed in gold, and I added brads to the center of the flower, and put glue and glitter on them.
Sorry I haven't posted as much as I would have liked this week! I have been working on some cards and another little project that I will try and post soon! I know I still owe you lots of other things I said I would post! That will be my goal for next week!
In the mean time, keep stampin'!

I'll have a blue Christmas
I'm posting this card today #1 to hopefully give you inspiration, but also to highlight a little technique that I kind of came up with, but I am sure it has been done by somebody, somewhere. Seems like when I think I am so clever and come up with something, I will see someone else has done it too! heehee! Great minds think alike, I guess!
So the technique I used was to take a lighter colored cardstock (in this case, Soft Sky) then stamp an image in a coordinating darker color (Not Quite Navy) then highlight the whole picture with a white gel pen. (see photo) I also took a little bit of the darker blue color that I used for the image and lowlighted or shaded the areas like the stream and parts of the bridge, to give the whole image dimension. I have done a couple cards using this technique, and I might post a couple this week.
Well, update on My Digital Studio. Something on my husbands computer is causing problems with the program, so I we will have to try a few more things before I am able to get in there and use it. I know my husbands computer will support it, but honestly, he has a ton of stuff on it and something is conflicting with the program and causing it to shut off spontaneously after only using it for about 5 minutes. I really hope it all gets worked out, cause I am really looking forward to using it!

Butterflies, Babies, and bummers.
This was one card I did for a special order. I know the picture is a little dark, sorry about that!
Well, I got it! It came to my door yesterday! I am just on the edge of my seat to begin using it, but I found out that my computer will not support it....But all is not lost!!
My husband's computer will, and he is going to allow me to put it on his. I eventually want to get a new computer for myself, we just have to finish paying his off first! :)
But in the meantime, now I have to wait until he gets home from work tonight for him to install it. I could do it myself, but he feels better if he can do it himself. So alas, I will have to report on it tomorrow!
I did, however, get new stamps in that same package! Woohoo! I will have to start make some cards with them and post them probably next week!
These are the sets I got:
Tree Trimmings
Cold & Cuddly
Two Cool Dudes
Love Bug
and a couple wheels.
Have I mentioned in the past that I am a nut for all things Christmas? Snowmen, Reindeer, and Snowflakes in particular. It borders on obsession! I actually make Christmas cards all year long. Even for all the Christmas cards I post, I still have tons more that I haven't posted!
Speaking of posting, I guess I should stop rambling and post this now!
See you all again tomorrow!

Who's got the button?
Here is yet another pretty straightforward card. The tree and words are embossed in gold on Very Vanilla cardstock. I kind of like the contrast of the elegant tree and words with the quaintness (is that a word?) of the buttons. Of course, then again, I tend to like off the wall stuff!
I have checking my tracking for my package to come to day with my new My Digital Studio in it! It looks like it should be arriving some time today! It figures that I have something I need to do this evening, so by the time it arrives, I won't have time to play with it tonight! Maybe I will just stay up late.....
More tomorrow!

Super Simple Monday
Did you all have a good weekend? I know I did!
I had a bunch of pictures I wanted to scrapbook, and I was able to get about 10 pages done! I think that is a record for me! I might actually post some of them too!
I am also excitedly anticipating the arrival of my new My Digital Studio that Stampin' Up now has available! I saw a little bit of video about it, and I told myself I just had to have it! I will let you all know when it arrives!
Todays card truly is easy. Stamp the images in different colors, punch them out, then punch the Scallop Squares in whatever color you like, cut a piece of DSP, and put it all together! I couldn't imagine this card taking more than 3 minutes once you have all the supplies ready!
Items I used:
Pocket Silhouettes
Scallop Square punch
Square punch

Skating By
As you can see, this card is part of the series I made. It is very similar to the other two using the skaters, and also like the one with the Cardinal I posted earlier.
I feel like Christmas is just zooming up on me at lightning speed! I have so many projects I want to get to before it gets too late! I better get started on them!
Next week I will have more Christmas cards and maybe a fall card or two!
Have a great weekend, see you then!

Foiled again!
It's a little hard to tell from the picture, but the background paper has gold foil in the design, and it really makes the card look very pretty in person!
I don't know if this could qualify as a simple card, but I thought it was pretty easy! The hardest part was the masking, which isn't that difficult!
I did almost the same thing as yesterday's card, except I stamped the sentiment on a separate piece and punched it out.

Whats old is new again
I did a series of cards using the Winter Post set that I wanted to give a slightly vintage feel. I will be posting all 3 for the rest of this week, starting with this one. I was also able to use nothing but scraps! ( I always like that!)
I distressed a piece of scrap DSP with browns, then stamped the snowflake in a random pattern using the stamping off technique, On the cream piece, I stamped the skaters, then using masking, I stamped the trees from Lovely as a Tree set. The 'Merry Christmas' is from A Cardinal Christmas. I then inked the edges in a dark brown, and used the spatter stamp from Itty Bitty Backgrounds to give it more of an aged feel.

Super Simple Monday...on Tuesday!
Well here is todays Super Simple Monday card, but seeing as I was busy yesterday, I posted it on Tuesday! For some reason, I keep thinking I posted this one already a while back...I suppose I could go back and look, but that would mean less stamping time today!
This one is mainly Bashful Blue, Real red, Whisper white, and Gable Green. I think I used Always Artichoke for the stem/leaves. Once you have the supplies out and the strips cut, this card only takes about 3 minutes to make! and it can be used for lots of things! a note card, a thank you card... change the main image and colors, and you can use it for anything! Have fun!

I don't wanna grow up......
These are some pictures from my daughters birthday party a couple weeks ago. I thought I would post them because there were several things I did that I thought might give you some inspiration for some of your own projects!
If you hadn't already guessed, it was a princess party! The three little princesses looked so cute with all their jewels on! My daughter is the one in the red dress. She was so happy! She had never had a party with friends over before!
I was able to find some pretty crown/earring sets and wands at the Dollar Tree store, and I was also surprised when I found cups and napkins that matched Bashful Blue and Pretty in Pink perfectly!
I also bought a package of bubbles that I was able to alter to match the theme. I used regular acrylic white craft paint to paint the lids, then wrapped Bashful Blue DSP around it, and added some jewels and glitter!
Then I made place cards for each of the girls using Pretty in Pink and Bashful Blue, and one of the alphabet die sets for the Big Shot. Then jewels and glitter!
The cake was fun to make, and Kelly liked it so much, she had trouble keeping her little fingers out of it! If you look closely, you can see her little finger prints!
And last but not least, I had to include a picture of me and my awesome friend/upline, Carrie Rhoades! As you can see, when our little girls weren't looking, we got ahold of their crowns and had some fun too! I think we agreed that we will never really grow up! It is her that I have to thank for opening my eyes to the stamping world! She makes the cutest stuff! You have to check out her blog here and see all the neat things she does!
Ok, I hope you enjoyed a little peek into my life, seeing as I normally just post about cards! But also I hope maybe you got some ideas to get your creative side moving!

I'm dreaming of a ....Purple Christmas?
I like using colors besides red and green for Christmas cards! I mean, how cute is this snowman!
I did use a retired set for the image, but you can substitute anything you like!
I hope this card encourages you to think out of the box as far as colors are concerned. Try making a Christmas card using a non-traditional color. You never know how it might turn out!
This picture doesn't do justice to this card. It is really very pretty in person, and the words are embossed in silver. I may just have to keep this one in my private collection!
